THE SEATS COLLECTION

‘One day I saw a chair on the waters’ edge..’

And I began to wonder who had put it there? who had wanted or needed to watch the ocean so much that they dragged a ragged chair to make that activity possible. Why had they not just sat on the ground.

I then began to think about humankind and its long love affair with the ocean and shoreline. For how many thousands of years had people sat in this very position and watched and wondered at the sea?

Commonality, awe, desire, wonder, peace.

I was very sad when the council took that old chair away. That was my first chair. I have photographed and painted many others since then. Just a few are on this page.
